Music Marketing Project

For our Music Marketing Project, my team and I decided to market the hip hop punk hit song, Me and Your Mama by childish Gambino, since it was a pice of art different from what my team and I are used to listening to. During the process of choosing the ideal song to market, this song particularly stood out to us due to the use of different sounds and pitches used to deliver the message of the song; from the begging, one would expect to be a very angelic and calming song. however, right in the middle of the song it takes another turn. It turns into more of a high intensity song that introduces the message of the song.

While brainstorming ideas for our music video, we focused mostly on the rythm and the lyrics. Due to the small amount of words being said, and partially the song being just sounds, it was a hard process. The song mostly talks about a subject expressing his passionate love and how he fights for them both to be together. In order to transmit that message to oyr audience we decided to create a prohibited love story. Since the piece illustrates the sense of euphoria, we decided to use a combination of different colors, and short shots that go in sync with the song. The use of a projector will be useful when shooting all the past scenes of that couple's relation. With the help of a high intensity light we will be able to show the shadow of the couple fighting to give the sense of a more abstract piece.

Our Brainstorming

Overall the brainstorming for our music video was the most hard-working part, due to the different use of sounds and pitches in the song. Now that we have completed our brainstorming, we will be storyboarding furthermore and illustrating it all on paper so that filming will be easier. After so, we will start filming each shot to complete the finish product. We will focus more of our time in editing, since it will be the most important part in our music video in order to sync it to the song perfectly.
